Scripting | Mock-Up Interfaces | Storyboard

We found out that Mr Yulius is to be technical supervisor for the scripting part, so if there were any questions or doubts he would assist us. There was consultation with him today so we told him all about our concept and how the interactions would work. His feedback was that it was interesting but maybe focus on just three main interactions as we had about four or five. Preferably focus on the interactions that had more linkage to the properties of the umbrella. He also suggested for us to change the lock interface to a more fun, bubble one, an interface that matches with our overall theme and style, which is cute and bubbly.

Since we did up about two proper interfaces so far, we showed it to Miss Esther for some feedback and improvisation. She mentioned,

• Icons had to be improved
• Not really a good idea to hide the navigation words in the form of icons, much better idea to see the whole navigation links
• Not bad but could definitely be improved on the positioning of elements as well as the margin and kerning.

She did out a rough sketch and showed it to us.

Later on in the afternoon, we discussed about the main interactions that we would be using. We decided to cross out the password action = Velcro strap idea as it was not really relevant to an umbrella property or gesture. Hence, these would be the three main interactions that we would be focusing on, as these actions are mostly relevantly linked to physical properties of umbrella too.

• Opening of folder in an upwards gesture = similar to opening an umbrella.
• To open the folder, the gesture of circling it has to be done. This would be one of the properties, which is spinning of the umbrella.
• A hook and drag function to copy or move files. This is an interesting gesture as the umbrella can also be used to hook or drag something.

We carried on doing our work till around evening where we decided to find Mr Andrew to clarify some doubts about the scripting. We also showed him the website interface to ask for his opinions. He mentioned that it was not wise to keep having cloud elements in our theme as it may mislead people. There must be a good reason for the clouds to be there. With this, the interface has to be re-evaluated meaning more mock-ups to de continued on.

After consulting with him, we went back down to the lab to continue our work. At this stage, mock-ups in both flash and web interface have to be done. Hence, we confirmed our main roles for this project.

• Jovelle and Wilson: Scripting out of interactions
• Dean and Hazel: Web related stuff and compiling documentation
